The worst-kept secret in Hiroshima and the Ford world is finally no longer secret: we are moving in December. And we are moving to...... BANGKOK!!!
We are now on what's called a "pre-assignment trip" for the first 3 weeks of November. This trip includes move-related activities like house-hunting, HR paperwork, setting up bank accounts, registering in the hospital system (don't know why this is needed, but it's on the schedule!) and - last but not least - we are already transitioning into our new jobs.
We are officially starting our new jobs in January. Kumar is staying in product development, I'm staying in marketing. We are both happy with the new home town, the new jobs and the prospect of life in Asia beyond Japan.
After 3 weeks in Bangkok, we will come back to Hiroshima to wrap things up, get packed, say our farewells, celebrate Kumar's birthday and - if all goes as planned - leave Japan for good on December 11th.
We will be in Michigan and Buenos Aires for the latter part of December. So - for those in those corners of the world - get ready to catch up and hear all about our new exciting destination.
And wherever you are - start planning a trip to Thailand! While we don't know exactly where we'll live (city or suburbs, apartment or house, modern or traditional) one thing is for sure: we'll have plenty of space to welcome guests! What's there in Thailand - you may wonder? Great weather, great beaches, great shopping, great food, great culture, great prices... and lots of elephants, Kumar and Sil! What else could you possibly ask for?
Since we'll no longer be in Japan, in the new year we'll have to start a new blog... ideas for a new blog name are welcome!
For the time being - Sawadee-ka... (the only Thai word I've learned)
