Ohanami

Two weeks ago the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Unfortunately the weather was crappy and we could not go out and enjoy them. But a week ago, even though the blooming peak had passed, we decided to have a picnic under the trees.

Being cool party people, we decided to go for an evening ohanami rather than the milder afternoon one (ohanami is a specific word to name the picnic under the cherry blossoms that happens when they are in full bloom). About 10 friends showed up. It was a bit chilly, so after 3 hours we moved the party inside (to the usual Irish bar).

This was the canopy right above our heads

Prior to the party, Julie and I had been out with our cameras. We rode our bicycles from tree to tree and had a photographic feast. After last year's intensive photo exploration of every cherry blossom tree in town, I thought there would not be much new material to shoot... But we managed to get some new angles. See the "Ohanami" link on the right!
